There were so many events in 2020 that really impacted us on a physical, mental and emotional level. We decided to post this article written by a 14 year old black girl regarding Black Lives Matter.
BLACK LIVES MATTER by C.R.J. U
On the 6th of June 2020 I watched the Black Lives Matter protest you might have heard about it on the news or even attended the protest. The scenes were mind blowing in the sense that a generation was rising up, but it was also heart sickening.
The horror and the sadness on everyone’s faces was heart breaking. The screams and the cries of those who’s family members were affected by this cruelty to people of colour. The Black Lives Matter signs plastered all across the city and that is when disgust took over me. The fact that we have to do all this just to be heard is disgraceful. This is the world we live in. It is disgusting, to be judged or looked at in a certain way because of the colour of your skin. Our beautiful black skin , viewed as a weapon. This leaves me speechless, what a disgrace to humanity. This should not be accepted.
This is to encourage young people to not be ashamed of their colour but to love their skin colour. We should embrace who we are, accept that we are all human, we all bleed red. We should not feel different because of our race. For the young generation don’t let this carry on, make a difference, make your voice heard!
The change starts with you!
